The Mission of Black Advocates in State Service is to ensure equal representation of African Americans and minorities in State Service and the community at large, by advocating, training and development, promoting and protecting the interest of all people in the total government process.
Our history is made up of individual stories lived by the men and women that in their own way sought to improve our American society. They pushed forth the notion that a “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish...” Our individual stories are powerful and must be told because we learn from them and our spirits are nourished.
Each individual story can be thought of as one mighty brick in our deep and complex history that constitutes the foundation upon which our community is now situated. Therefore, we present to you the stories of our founding members…
